Up and coming at Empower Martial Arts
Graduations
Our next Graduations will kick off Monday 19th September and run in every class until the Saturday 24th September.
Please make sure Graduation forms are handed in before this week as we want to put all our attention on the Graduations that week and not at the desk discussing forms. (If the Graduation forms are handed in on Graduation Day the student will not Graduate that day, they will do it the next Graduation Day unless this is the Saturday and then it will be too late!)
Also note that no Progress Checks will be done on Graduation week. All Stripes must be earned before the Graduation week begins.
All students must have trained in at least 14 classes before the Graduation week begins. Please don’t aim for 14 classes…. 14 in then absolute minimum. There are 20 allocated classes and catch-up classes available so 20 is the number to aim for.
Brown Belt White Stripes
Brown Belt White Stripes will have their Progress Check on Saturday starting from 1pm and aim to finish for 3pm.
Black Belt Gradings
The next Black Belt Grading is set for October 15th. All candidates must pass the Black Stripe that will take place on Saturday 1st October at 1pm and aim to finish at 3pm.
Anyone wishing to help with the Sparring section of this Grading should turn up at 3pm. There will be at least 10 rounds of sparring. Please note all Black Belts must support their team mates in at least 1 Black Belt Grading in order to qualify for their next Dan Grade. A Silver Star will be given to those Black Belts that do.
We have Danny Collins taking his 4th Degree Black Belt coming up too! Danny’s exam will be split into 3 separate areas. Fitness on October 1st , Sparring o October 8th, Technical on October 15th.
Danny will need sparring partners for his sparring section. He will do 12 rounds of Point Stop and 12 rounds of Light Continuous. Black Belts are encouraged to take part in this to support Danny. Please turn up at 3pm on October 8th.

Sports Massage at the DOJO
The Sports Massage Therapy Clinic is back on Thursday 29th September. Treatment slots will be available every 30-minutes between 4pm and 9pm. Spaces are limited, so treatment slots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Services available include:
- Maintenance Sports Massage
- Injury Rehabilitation
- Percussive Therapy
- Pre-Event Sports Massage
- Kinesiology / Sports Taping

Charity events at Empower Martial Arts
We are planning another Battle Rope Challenge for November… keep your ears and eyes peeled!
Healthy tips for your body and you mind
There are 3 “New Years”.
January 1st – The Calendar New Year.
Spring – Natures New Year.
September – The New Beginnings New Year.
This is the time when the academic year begins. New classes, new schools, new goals are set and even for some new locations to live in.
For all it is a time to move on from the Summer Splendors. A chance to refocus and set new challenges.
The weather maybe turning but the energy is still here… and it’s the perfect temperature to train in!
So Lets GO!!
Beware that even though thirst might not be as obvious without the pressing heat it is still recommended to stay very much hydrated.
Aim for 2 litre’s for and Adult and 1.5 litre’s for a child. Add an extra litre for every hour or intense training.


Final Words
We have been extremely impressed with all students for finding a great balance in there training / summer fun times.
